Yesterday we visited the Molly Brown house museum. Hard to summarize this fascinating historical figure...a philanthropist, social activist, and formidable person, best known for her presence of mind on Lifeboat No. 6 as Titanic sank.
Brown bought this ornate Victorian house for $30,000 in 1894. The house has been restored and the furnishings are either original or replicated, so the home, which was built in 1889, provides an interesting glimpse into the upper middle class lifestyle of the late 19th/early 20th century. Yes. If Molly Brown were driving a car in 2007, it would be a classic green Beetle.
