Just down the road from us there has been some hoopla as a film crew works on a commercial for an Italian candy bar. The star of the ad is a penguin riding a handcar through what is supposed to be the desert. Unfortunately the crew picked one of the only cloudy days we've had all year. Still, they made the most of it. Many people acted incredibly self-important and many, especially the lighting folks, seemed very nice. The catering guy, pictured below in the Hawaiian shirt, was omnipresent to keep everyone toked up on snacks. We saw at least a hundred vehicles, an enormous amount of equipment, miles of cables, and scads of workers. The director was intense and dressed as if he were Fellini. This was a half hour that we found pretty amusing.
