"There was so much sky, more than at sea, more than anywhere else in the world." Willa Cather
Santa Fe is called Sagrado in 'Red Sky at Morning'.
This is the author, Richard Bradford. He spent most of his adult life in New Mexico. Red Sky was made into an excellent movie in 1971 with Richard Thomas, Claire Bloom, Richard Crenna, Desi Arnaz Jr. We were fortunate to see it in a special showing at the Lensic a couple of years back. Then pfffftt it was gone. Unbelievably, this fine movie has not yet been restored and made available on DVD.
Guess you'll have to take my word that this is one of American literature’s most complex and engaging coming-of-age stories. Read the book, and if you ever come upon a showing of this film, see it--you will not be disappointed. The movie stills are from www.dacre.org.
