Indian Day School

"Indian Day School" was the first film made in New Mexico (Feb. 24, 1898). NM has been a popular movie backdrop ever since. Photographed from a single-camera position, the still posted here shows the doorway of a building with a sign in front that says Isleta Indian School. In the film, children come out of the school door and pass in front of the camera.

The Library of Congress American Memory Collection is a wonderful resource.
